Cancer Season: A Portal to Past Lives and Ego Release

Updated: Jun 23

As the sun enters the watery sign of Cancer, a profound portal opens—a time when the astral tides of memory rise to the surface, and the soul is called to return inward.

Cancer, ruled by the Moon, governs emotion, memory, and the deep waters of the unconscious. It is during this cycle that the gates to our past lives and hidden egoic structures loosen. What is buried begins to stir. The soul whispers of who we were—and more importantly, of what we must transcend.

One of the keys given by the Gnostic sages for this exact season is the ancient mantra:

Abracadabra

This mantra that has been vulgarized in many ways in our current times, it derives from the Hebrew אברה קדברא (Ebrah K’Dabri), it means: “I create what I speak.”

Far from a magician’s cliché, this mantra is a vibrational formula of creation and purification.

Its power lies in the vowel A, which activates and revitalizes the thymus gland—a subtle organ linked to vitality, immunity, and control over sexual energy.

As modern science confirms the thymus degenerates after sexual maturity, the Gnostic teachings reveal that the cause is abuse of sexual energy and the loss of inner purity. The Moon, and thus Cancer, intimately influences this gland. To regenerate it is to reclaim the innocence and vitality of the soul.

✦ The Practice: Abracadabra 49 Times

This sacred mantra is performed in a descending, pyramidal sequence, symbolizing the disintegration of inner egoic structures and the return to pure essence:

Abracadabra
Abracadabr
Abracadab
Abracada
Abracad
Abraca
Abrac
Abra
Abr
Ab
A

While vocalizing, focus your awareness in the thymus gland, in the center of the chest. Prolong the sound of the A, letting it vibrate through your being like a subtle bell calling you back to your divine origin.

"The mantra Abracadabra should be vocalized many times when one is sick. This mantra disintegrates the roots of the sickness, because its power is immense.” Samael Aun Weor

" Even some doctors are beginning to cure by means of musical sound. It is interesting to acknowledge that in the voice of the doctor, in each of his words, there is a source of life or death to his patients."

This mantra is not meant to be mindlessly repeated—it is a conscious invocation, a mystical disintegration of that which no longer serves. Use it to purify desires, calm unhealthy sexual appetites, and awaken the body's spiritual memory.

Accessing Past-Life Memory Through Retrospection

Cancer invites remembering—not only of this life but of the many lives we've lived before. To do this, Gnostic disciples are taught a powerful exercise before falling asleep:

Mentally retrace the events of your day—then your week, your month, your year—backwards.Like watching a film in reverse. Like reading a book from the last page to the first.

If done consistently with deep concentration and drowsiness, the thread of memory extends even further—back to the moment of birth, and with effort, to the death of your previous incarnation.

This exercise:

  • Reveals the structure of the lunar ego (desires, traumas, patterns)

  • Shines light on the karma shaping your life

  • And connects the present self to the eternal witness within

Like a surgeon studying a tumor before removing it, we must study the ego before dissolving it. And to do so, we must remember.

Ego Dissolution and the Waters of Cancer

The ego is not a single entity—it is a bundle of memories, desires, vices, and traumas. Cancer season helps loosen the grip of these internal constructs by softening us through emotion and memory.

When we chant Abracadabra, we disintegrate. When we practice retrospection, we illuminate. When we combine both—we remember, and we begin to awaken.

“Each time an ego is disintegrated, the trapped essence is liberated and absorbed by the consciousness. This increases our percentage of free soul.” ~ Samael Aun Weor -Revolution of the Dialectic

There is no ego dissolution without self-observation.

There can be no true liberation without remembering the original cause.

There is no creation without the spoken word.

So speak wisely.

Remember deeply.

Let the silent stillness of Cancer’s waters carry you into the forgotten places where the self dissolves—and the Being remains.
